In the startup an recovery menu of Vista I,ve deselected the time to display list of operating systems. Now I cannot make the choice between xp or vista because it starts direct in xp.

Hit F8 when your computer is booting up and it should displayed the Advanced Boot Options for Windows Vista. From there, you should be able to hit ESC and select Windows Vista.
